Prima Papers and Grandma

Wow!  My mom made this great layout of my grandmother with the Prima paper line "Romance Novel"!  The colors in the picture matched the colors in the paper just perfectly.  Add a few flowers, ribbon, and a butterfly punch, and the layout is just gorgeous. 

This line only comes with 10 pieces of paper per design, so Prima definitely knows how to keep us wanting!

The crazy thing, is before I opened a store, I don't think I even knew Prima has papers!  How crazy is that!

End of Summer

Well, Chickies, the end of summer is upon us.  It's one of those bittersweet times of year... if you have kids, you'll be sad (and glad!) to send them back off to school so you have a little "me" time again.  Or, maybe you are hitting a milestone with your child - first day of Kindergarden, first day of Middle School, first day of High School (like mine!), or even First day of College. 

If you don't have kids, maybe you're a little sad because the endless days of summer will be over and the days at the pool, lake, or beach are ending.  (Maybe not, though, it IS Texas after all!) 

Anyway, I know that the last couple of weeks of summer are busy for a lot of us trying to get those last couple days of vacation, shopping for school...maybe you're like me, too, and at work you are moving into budgeting season (UGH!), so you have longer hours.

I know it's hard to find time to scrapbook, but admist all this busy time, please take a hour or two a week for yourself and create a little something pretty.  Get your hands dirty, look at some pictures and reminisce a bit.  Don't let the time slip away too quickly!

National Lighthouse Day

Today is National Lighthouse Day! On this day in 1789, the United States Congress approved an Act “for the establishment and support of lighthouses, beacons, buoys, and public piers.” This piece of legislation commissioned the first Federal lighthouse, which was constructed at the entrance of Chesapeake Bay. Two hundred years later, Congress designated August 7th as National Lighthouse Day to commemorate this important moment in history and to celebrate these beautiful structures.

Every Last Scrap to the Rescue!

Yesterday we had a hawk collapse in front of our store. We decided to help the hawk so every 30 minutes, we went out and checked on it a gave it water or made sure it had water. About 5 hours later, I guess it had cooled down enough because it flew off. We were very excited that he flew away! We hope he makes sure to drink plenty of water before going out in 103+ degree weather!
